Sweet Retreat is part of the eclectic 50th & France neighborhood located in Edina, MN. Surrounded by boutique’s, restaurant’s, salon’s and cafe’s; the name alone will make you want to make a pit stop. Saturday was my 1st time visiting the cupcake boutique. There was a small collection of cupcakes and cake bites so I opted for the Mocha Chocolate. The frosting was savory, sweet, and finger licking but the actual cupcake was very very dry. I despise dry anything … dry skin, dry weather, dry chicken, and especially dry cupcakes! Not sure if it was a bad day for the #1 Voted Cupcake joint in the Twin Cities or if the City Pages made a huge mistake. Either way, the next time I am in the area I will make it a point to stop by again … If I can find a parking spot!
Milda’s Cafe is located in “the hood” of North Minneapolis. Breakfast all day, Fried chicken, grits, pasty’s, Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, local celebrities and cash only. You won’t be impressed by the ambiance but the chicken andouille sausage will make you question why you continue to eat pork. 1720 Glenwood Avenue North, Minneapolis MN.
Nestle drumstick. Cookies and Cream. Taste like ice cream parlor quality.
The best value lunch or dinner. Roasted salmon and vegetables for less than $13. This trumps any high end restaurant any day.
Yams with butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, and agave
